Modernisms

A multi-genre study of texts, theories, and cultures of the modernist period (approximately 1900-1945). Topics may include literary/aesthetic experiments likesurrealism and abstraction; individuality and anonymity; cosmopolitanism, liberalism, and the rise of fascism; colonialism, imperialism, and mass migration; the World Wars and the experience of trauma; comparative modernities and modernisms; women’s rights movement.
