VT: Modern South Asian Literature

The literatures from the South Asian subcontinent organized around a theme, such as the literature of colonization/decolonization; multilingualism and translation; nationalism and globalization; secularity, the novel, and the lyric. Texts may be written in English but could also be read in translation, possibly including writers such as Bama, Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai, Anita Desai, Mirza Asadullah Khan Ghalib, and Salman Rushdie. May be repeated for credit if the topic is different.
