Introduction to American Music

A general survey of American music history. Music from native American peoples, the colonial period, and developments from the early stages of the United States up through contemporary classical and popular music innovations will be discussed. Emphasis is placed on the cultural, social, political, economic, artistic and technological developments from pre-1500 through the present.
