The course will explore the role of biotechnology for engineering functional food, nutraceutical, pharmaceutical, and industrial crops including cosmetic, lubricants, renewable energy, specialized wood products, etc. In this course, novel biotechnological approaches to engineering crops for production of biofuels and technologies such as ethanol distillation using a variety of biomass raw materials and microorganisms will be discussed.
