Special stress given to ideological and mythic functions, narrative and visual styles, and the interaction of political, aesthetic, and semiological elements. Various specific topics such as American Depression-era films; imagination and insurrection; revolutionary cinema; films of the fifties; the politics of everyday life; film aesthetics.
