Scope and Knowledge: This program requires demonstration of the knowledge and hands-on skills covered on the Job Task Analysis (JTA): JTA for ACI Certification of CSA Standards Concrete Field Testing Technician The JTA is a detailed list of specific points of knowledge and skills that may be included in the examinations for this ACI Certification program. ACI urges candidates to use the JTA to prepare for the certification exams. The program requires a working knowledge of the following CSA standards: CSA A23.2-17C Temperature of freshly mixed hydraulic cement concrete CSA A23.2-1C Sampling plastic concrete CSA A23.2-5C Slump of concrete CSA A23.2-6C Density and yield of plastic concrete CSA A23.2-4C Air content of plastic concrete by the pressure method s CSA A23.2-3C Making and curing concrete compression and flexural test specimens CSA A23.2-19C Slump flow of concrete Certification Requirements: ACI will grant certification only to those applicants who meet both of the following requirements: A passing grade on the ACI written examination; AND Successful completion of the ACI performance examination. The sixty-minute (1-hour) written examination is closed-book and consists of 56 multiple-choice questions. There are 5-10 questions on each of the test methods and standard practices. To pass the written examination, both of the following conditions must be met: At least 60% correct for each of the required test methods and standard practices; AND A minimum score of 70% overall. The performance examination is also closed-book and requires actual demonstration of six of the required CSA test methods and standard practices plus a verbal description of Standard Practice A23.2–1C (sampling). The examinee is judged on his/her ability to correctly perform or describe all of the required procedures for each test method and standard practice. Certification is valid for a period of five years from the date of successfully completing all requirements. Recertification requires successful completion of both the written and performance examinations.
