African American and African Studies
Bard College at Simon's Rock
This concentration considers the great range of experiences of African and Afro-descended people in the diaspora. Students consider the many ways Black people have negotiated and resisted racial structures within white-dominated societies, thinking critically about the concept of race and the crucial role of capitalism, language, and culture in defining racial difference at distinct historical moments.
