Health Science Internship is a capstone course designed to provide advanced students with practical knowledge and skills needed for postsecondary healthcare education and employment. The practicum requirements in the course are designed to be completed in local healthcare facilities, such as a hospital, medical office, or long-term care facility. When Health Science Internship is offered as a two-credit course, work should be completed and credit awarded in a single school year. The two-credit course will include a summary project that reflects the extended learning opportunities and time spent in the clinical facility (standard 20). Career and Technical Student Organizations are integral, co-curricular components of each career and technical education course. These organizations enhance classroom instruction while helping students develop leadership abilities, expand workplace-readiness skills, and access opportunities for personal and professional growth. Students in the Health Science cluster affiliate with HOSA–Future Health Professionals.
