Focus Statement A Hydroblasting Technician must have familiarity with PPE, design specifications, and the mechanical operations of hoses, shotguns, and accessories. He or she should also have awareness of associated hazards and conditions surrounding hydroblasting activities, such as the consequences of exposure and potential hazards on the job site. He or she must possess the ability to operate equipment such as shotguns, flex lances, and stiff lances, and know their basic operating functions (such as turning on/off, regulation of operating pressure, and the use of the proper accessories). It is essential for this technician to know the safety aspects of the equipment, such as relief valves, maximum operating capabilities, equipment ratings, and limitations. Finally, he or she should know how to properly perform equipment inspection of water filters and water conditions, and equipment conditions and always perform a pre-task assessment prior to any operation.
